When can you use Horus Condition Report?
Whenever you need to do a condition report! That is to say before or after a transportation of a work, before or after an exposition, to evaluate the necessity of a conservation treatment, before a conservation treatment, before a sale, after a disaster, to document a collection, etc. You can also use the application to make technological study.
With the option “save readings in the gallery,” your annotated photos are saved in your device (jpeg format). You can use it in your writings for instance! The option “record an extract” provides a PDF without the 1st page (identification) and the last page (recommendations and signatures): basically the pages including annotated pictures, close­up and comments. You can include them directly in a study or another kind of report.

On which device can I use Horus Condition Report?
Horus Condition Report can be used on tablets and smartphones IOS (Apple) from IOS9 + and on Android from Android 4.3.
The application is not compatible with other and older systems.
Can someone else see my reports?
You are, as a user of the tablet or smartphone, the only one to access to your reports. Horus Condition Report has been conceived so as to the reports are sent to your own initiative. We have no access to your data and we cannot see your reports or your photos.
The confidentiality of your reports is based on securing your smartphone, tablet, and your messaging service.
Are my reports saved?
The application automatically saves all your actions. If your machine is running out of battery, there will be no loss of data. The photos taken for the reports are stored in the memory of your device. These data can be lost if you uninstall the application.
We recommend that you regularly back up your reports on your computer, on your collection management system, your mailbox or on a cloud.
What are the different steps of the report?
Regarding the use of the application, we recommend you to refer to the page “support” of our website site, and or download our detailed user manual.
The major steps for the creation of a report can be summarized this way:
1: Fill in the information about the report
2: Fill in the required information about the work
3: Take pictures of the object with your smartphone or tablet, or use pictures from the gallery of your device.
4: Select materials and damages in existing lists or personalize them by adding materials and damages of your choice.
5: For each selected degradation, annotate photos and make comments if necessary (location, quantification, diagnosis, severity, scalable or not …). You can choose not to add the close­ups of unnecessary details to the final document.
6: Now, provide recommendations : on the treatment, preventive conservation, packaging, handling.
7: Sign and have the report signed by a second party, read it, check the layout and validate you report.
9: Archive or send the report.
In which format my report is recorded?
The report is sent in PDF via the e­mail address configured on your tablet or smartphone, or via online sharing platforms.
With the Pro version, you can archive and share a “Horus export”. This format can be imported in a Horus app to update the reports.
How many reports can I store in my application?
The reports are stored in your device: they consume memory, especially because of the pictures’ size. Your storage capacity will depend on your smartphone or tablet.
What is the quality of the images?
Images are optimized to send the reports by e­mail. General pictures are in medium resolution, zoom on the damages are in the best resolution offered by your device. The quality of the screen and the camera will have an impact on the quality of the report but not as much as the quality of observation and analysis of the observer! We recommend paying attention to the light on the objects during shooting, the zoom on the degradations will be of a better quality.
How to equip several devices ?

You can install the app on several devices if they are identified with the same account (Apple ID or Google account).
In this case, please buy the application on a first device, then install it on the second.When the application asks you to buy, select “restore”.
If the devices are not identified with the same account, you need to buy the app with each account.

How to receive an invoice?

Can I do treatment reports?
With the Pro version, you can complete your condition report to rework it as a treatment report.

  1. Do your condition report and complete in the comments with your diagnostic and your treatment recommendations.
  2. Fulfill the treatments done in the field dedicated
  3. Add photos of your treatments: you can add photos in a medium-size (for photos during treatment and detail photos for example) and photos in big-size (for photos after treatment for example).
  4. When the field « Treatments done » is fulfilled, the report is named by default « Treatment report ». You can rename it in the field « Document title».
How to import data in Horus condition report?

With Horus CR Pro version, you can import information as the artwork’s title, accession numbers, material and techniques, dimensions…in .csv format.
How?

1. Prepare the file
If you use a collection management software, you probably can export data in .csv. If you are using Excel, create a sheet with the artworks you want to examine.
👉🏻Copy and paste your columns in the template attached.
You can import:
  • Information about the report: reporter name and function, contact details, objective of the report, report number.
  • Artworks informations: title/dénomination, artist, date, accession n°, typologie, collection, material and techniques, Other (description, technical info), localisation, dimensions.
  • A synthesis of the previous condition report in General comments (to be updated) and recommendations.
For dimensions, depending of your export, you will perhaps have to synconcatenate cells and clean up the punctuation marks.
Fill in the first 2 columns by hand and stretch them to repeat the content (You can include line breaks in cells).
On Excel: Save as “CSV UTF-08 (delimited by semicolons)“. On Numbers: Export under “CSV”
If you don’t have access to wifi, on Android, plug in your tablet and drag and drop your file into documents (Android) or into the Horus CR Pro, Numbers or Files folder (for IOS via ITunes).
You can also use airdrop (IOS), bluetooth, mail…
2. Import into Horus CR Pro
Open the Horus CR Pro app
Create a folder to save your import
Click on the import ↓ button (to the right of the folder name to display the list of options) and find your file
Open it, select the reports to import or check “select all” then ok
